CLIENT NEWS | ARTISTS' COLLECTING SOCIETY

The Artists’ Collecting Society is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to protecting the financial rights of artists and artists’ estates.

Over the course of 2017, the Artists’ Collecting Society has been able to provide £28,000 in educational bursaries and prizes to students and graduates from UK arts universities. The largest of these awards is the ACS Studio Prize: £6,000 to contribute to the cost of an artist’s studio in the UK.

The winner of the inaugural ACS Studio Prize has recently been announced. After drawing up an initial shortlist, the judging panel – which included Tim Marlow, Artistic Director of the Royal Academy of Arts, artist Maggi Hambling, and Lady Bridgeman, founder of the ACS – awarded the prize to German artist Marco Miehling.

Maggi Hambling commented that ‘we were impressed by the range and quality of the work. Particularly impressed by the multidisciplinary inventiveness of Marco Miehling.’

The ACS Studio Prize has featured in an extended article in Aesthetica Magazine, whilst Miehling’s success as winner has received coverage from The Art Newspaper and After Nyne. Keep an eye out next month for news regarding the ACS in Antiques Trade Gazette and 1 Granary. Looking ahead into the new year, the ACS will receive coverage from State Magazine.
